What does the error code on my dishwasher or washing machine mean?

Pick the brand and the appliance, or type the code from the display. Every one of the 271 codes here is stated by the brand itself, in its manual or on its support site, and each page names and links that source — so you get the maker’s meaning, not a guess from another make.

Before you check anything

Switch off and unplug before checking.

Anything electrical, anything to do with gas, and any water leak at the mains: call a technician. Every code page marks the codes the maker sends to its engineers with Technician, and says when an owner check has not worked.

Why the brand matters: same code, different fault

Error codes are not standardised. No published standard assigns them, so each maker numbers its own faults, and the same letters can mean unrelated things on two machines. Codes that appear on more than one page here, with different meanings:

Even within one brand, models differ: Bosch’s newer dishwashers show E:24-00 where older ones show E24, and Samsung uses 4C on newer machines and 4E on older ones for the same fault. Each page says which format its source covers.

Left out, and why

A brand and appliance appear here only when the maker’s own manual or support site could be read and states the codes. These could not be, so they have no page rather than a guessed one:

  • Beko dishwasher: The Beko dishwasher manuals we could download from Beko's own servers (DIN26X20 and the GB booklet D-8001-E) describe warning lights but print no error-code table, and Beko's help-centre pages refused our requests (HTTP 403). With no Beko source stating a code, no Beko dishwasher code is listed.
  • Beko washing machine: The Beko washing-machine manuals we could download from Beko's own servers (WI1382 and WMB71233) print no error-code table, Beko UK's troubleshooting guide lists symptoms but no codes, and Beko's help-centre pages refused our requests (HTTP 403). With no Beko source stating a code, no Beko washing-machine code is listed.
  • Miele’s numbered codes (F10, F11, F20 …): Miele’s current manuals, which we list, write faults out in words; the Miele support pages that explain the older numbered codes refused our requests (HTTP 403), so those numbers are not listed.

What these pages cannot do

  • They cannot identify your model. A page covers the codes its source states; a model outside that source may use other codes. Your model’s manual is the authority.
  • They do not diagnose or repair. An owner check is listed only where the maker gives one; everything else is for a technician.
