Samsung calls these 'information codes'. Only models with a digital display show them as a code; models without one blink lights instead. Many codes come as a pair — C on newer models, E on older ones (4C and 4E mean the same). Every code below is on Samsung UK's own support page.

1C Low-water-level check

What it means
The dishwasher stops early and keeps trying to drain even though there is almost no water inside.
Likely cause
A clogged filter, the wrong detergent or an uneven load.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Clean the filter.
  • Use dishwasher detergent only, and load evenly.
  • Switch off, wait 5 minutes and switch on again.

3C 3E Wash pump not starting

What it means
The dishwasher fills but never starts washing: no spray action, then it stops.
Likely cause
A wash-pump fault.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Switch off for one minute and try again.

4C 4E Water supply problem

What it means
Little or no fresh water comes in, leaving the tub dry.
Likely cause
A closed supply valve, an interrupted water supply, or a frozen or clogged inlet valve or line.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Make sure the water supply valve is open and the mains water is on.
  • Check the inlet line is not frozen or blocked.

4C5 4E5 Fill stops early

What it means
The dishwasher starts filling, then stops with a dry tub.
Likely cause
Too little water pressure.
What you can safely check

  • Make sure the tap is open, the hose is not kinked and nothing is blocking the supply.

5C 5E Not draining

What it means
The dishwasher expects the water level to drop, but it does not.
Likely cause
A blocked drain outside the machine, a dirty mesh filter or a kinked drain hose.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Make sure the household drain is not clogged.
  • Clean the mesh filter at the bottom of the tub.
  • Check the drain hose is not kinked.
When to call a technician
If it still does not drain, contact Samsung support to book a technician.

5C2 Drain pump stalls

What it means
The drain pump fails to start, runs only briefly or stalls.
Likely cause
Debris jamming the pump impeller.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Unplug the dishwasher, take out the lower rack and the filter, and look in the sump for debris such as bones, labels or food sludge.

If the sump is clear, call a technician.

6C BE A button reads as stuck

What it means
The control thinks a key is being held down permanently, so it beeps, ignores commands or will not start.
Likely cause
A physically stuck button.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Press each button in turn and check it moves freely and springs back.
When to call a technician
If a button stays stuck, call a technician.

6C1 Detergent dispenser fault

What it means
The dispenser motor is not moving as expected.
Likely cause
Often a tablet stuck in the dispenser.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Unplug for 5 minutes.
  • Make sure no tablet is stuck in the dispenser.
When to call a technician
If it keeps appearing, call a technician.

7C Spray bar not moving

What it means
The dishwasher tries to move the spray bar, then stops: no spray and very poor cleaning.
Likely cause
A spray-bar drive fault.
What you can safely check

Nothing for the owner to check: this one is for a technician.

When to call a technician
Technician Samsung's page says to contact Samsung support: call a technician.

9C1 9E1 UC Abnormal supply voltage

What it means
The dishwasher has detected abnormal or excessive voltage and gone into protection mode, often after a power flicker, surge or breaker trip.
Likely cause
The mains supply.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Switch off at the wall or breaker, wait at least a minute, switch on and start a wash.
  • Use a proper socket of its own: no extension leads or multi-adapters, nothing heavy sharing it.
When to call a technician
Technician Electrical: if the code only clears on another circuit, have an electrician check the original supply; if it stays everywhere, call a technician.

9C2 Low or unstable supply

What it means
The panel powers on but the dishwasher will not wash; it often follows dimming lights, brownouts or an extension lead.
Likely cause
The mains supply.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Unplug for 5 minutes and switch on again.
  • Use a proper socket of its own, with no extension lead.

AC Control glitch

What it means
The dishwasher powers on but will not start, stops mid-cycle or does not respond.
Likely cause
Often a temporary glitch, e.g. after the door was opened mid-cycle.

What it means
The panel lights, but Start does nothing.
Likely cause
A control-board lock-out.

bC2 bE2 bC3 bE3 Control panel not responding

What it means
The buttons do not respond or act on their own; the panel keeps beeping.
Likely cause
Buttons held too long, or moisture or residue on a touch panel.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Wipe the control area dry with a lint-free cloth.
  • Switch off at the breaker (10 minutes for bC2, at least 30 seconds for bC3), then start a cycle with brief taps.

DC Door not closed

What it means
The dishwasher will not start or stops soon after Start.
Likely cause
The door is not latched: a protruding utensil, a dirty latch or cabinetry in the way.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Open and close the door firmly without slamming.
  • Remove anything protruding from the racks; clean the latch; make sure the worktop or cabinets do not obstruct the door.

FC FC2 FC3 FC4 Drying fan problem

What it means
The wash finishes but the dishwasher stops or shows the code during drying; dishes stay wet.
Likely cause
A drying-fan fault or a blocked vent.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Make sure the vent is not blocked.
  • Switch off for at least 5 minutes, adjust the load and try again.

HC HE HC1 Water too hot

What it means
The dishwasher stops during or near the end of a cycle with a very hot interior.
Likely cause
Over-hot inlet water or poor circulation.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Make sure the dishwasher is not fed excessively hot water.
  • Clean the filters.
  • Switch off for at least 5 minutes, then run a normal cycle empty with detergent.

HC2 HC4 Drying stops early

What it means
The wash completes but drying fails or ends early.
Likely cause
Hot air cannot get out.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Make sure nothing covers the vent on the outside of the door.
  • Do not load tall plastics against the vent inside the tub.

LC LE Leak detected

What it means
The dishwasher stops, drains continuously and beeps; water may be visible under or around it.
Likely cause
A leak — from the wrong detergent, a debris-fouled door seal or a sink backing up into the dishwasher.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Use dishwasher detergent only.
  • Clean debris from the door seal and bottom lip; make sure racks or tall items are not distorting the seal.
  • Check the sink is not backing water into the dishwasher.

OC Overfill or too much foam

What it means
The dishwasher stops mid-cycle; water keeps coming in, with foam or puddles at the door.
Likely cause
The wrong detergent or too much foam, or a drain hose problem.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Use dishwasher detergent only; clean the filter.
  • Check the drain hose is not kinked and the dishwasher is not standing on it.

PC PE Zone / half-load fault

What it means
The dishwasher will not start, often when Zone Wash or Half Load is selected.
Likely cause
A fault in the zone-wash switching.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Switch off at the wall or breaker for at least 30 seconds.
  • Deselect Zone Wash / Half Load and run a normal cycle.

tC tE tE1 Temperature sensor fault

What it means
The dishwasher will not start a programme or stops shortly after starting.
Likely cause
A temperature-sensor fault.

  • Switch off at the wall or breaker for at least 5 minutes, then try one normal cycle.

tC1 tC2 Drying stops early

What it means
The wash completes but drying fails or ends early.
Likely cause
Blocked air flow.
What you can safely check

  • Make sure nothing covers the vent on the outside of the door and tall plastics are not against the inner vent.

Samsung's page adds: if any code keeps appearing after these steps, contact Samsung support; if it overflows, turn off the water supply first; if there is water in the base, it should be removed before the dishwasher is restarted.
