Frigidaire dishwasher error codes

7 codes that Frigidaire publishes for its dishwashers, each with what it means, the likely cause, what you can safely check and when to call a technician. Tap your code:

This page covers US (North American) models: Frigidaire dishwashers sold in the United States and Canada. Frigidaire’s own guide to its dishwasher codes is short, and half of it is the display telling you what the dishwasher is doing rather than reporting a fault: CL, Hd and PF (and LOC, which only shows that the door is locked). The two real faults it lists are both about water getting out: i20 (did not drain) and i40 (clogged filter or sump). A number from 1 to 199 is simply the minutes left, and 01 to 24 counts down a delayed start. Models differ, so check your owner’s manual. i20 Did not drain completely

What it means
The dishwasher did not finish draining.
Likely cause
The disposer knockout plug still in place, a blocked, pinched or restricted drain hose, a drain hose too low, or food soil in the filters and sump.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • New installation: make sure the knockout plug in the disposer has been removed.
  • Check the drain hose is not blocked, pinched or restricted, and that it reaches at least 32 in (81 cm) above the floor.
  • Clean the filters and sump.
  • Reset by pressing Cancel, switching off at the breaker, or unplugging for 3 minutes.
When to call a technician
If it still does not drain, contact Frigidaire to book a technician.

i40 Clogged filter or sump

What it means
Food soil has built up in the sump.
Likely cause
A dirty filter and glass trap.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Clean the glass trap and filter, then run the dishwasher again.
When to call a technician
If the code continues, contact Frigidaire to book a technician.

CL Cd Door is open

What it means
The door has not closed and latched.
Likely cause
The door is not shut, or not latching.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Close the door firmly until it latches: the code goes off.
When to call a technician
If the door will not close or latch, book a technician.

Hd HO Heat delay

What it means
The dishwasher is in Heat Delay or Heater On mode, warming the water before it carries on. Frigidaire says it takes roughly 1 to 2 minutes for each degree the water must rise, so colder water means a longer wait.
Likely cause
Incoming water cooler than the dishwasher needs.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Let it finish heating.
When to call a technician
No technician is needed: this is normal.

PF Power was lost

What it means
The dishwasher lost power.
Likely cause
A power cut.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Press Start/Cancel to clear it, then start a new cycle.
When to call a technician
No technician is needed for a power cut.
