Reading the marks
- Number in the tub — hottest wash water in °C. Dots in the tub — the same thing on a US label (1 dot = 30 °C … 6 dots = 95 °C).
- Bars underneath — gentler cycle: one bar gentle, two bars very gentle.
- Dots on the iron or dryer — heat: more dots, hotter.
- Lines in the square — natural drying: vertical hang it, horizontal lay it flat, two lines means don't spin first, a slanted corner line means in the shade.
- Letters in the circle — for the dry cleaner: P and F are solvents, W is professional wet cleaning.
