What your robot vacuum’s light, error number or beeps mean: Roomba, Roborock, Shark, eufy and Samsung
53 lights, error numbers, voice messages and beep patterns from 5 makers, each from the maker’s own support page or manual. The numbers do not travel between makers: error 9 on a Roomba i Series is a jammed bumper, on a Roborock it is the dustbin and filter, and on a Shark RV2800 it is the dust cup. So pick the maker first, then what the robot shows or says.

- Roomba Error 2The multi-surface rubber brushes under the robot cannot spin.
- Roomba Error 6The robot keeps detecting a drop (a ‘cliff’), so it will not move.
- Roomba Error 8The vacuum has poor suction.
- Roomba Error 9The bumper reads as pressed all the time: it is jammed with debris or has come loose.
- Roomba Error 14The robot does not detect its bin.
- Roomba Error 15An internal board error: a fault inside the robot rather than something you can clear from the brushes, wheels or bin.
- Roomba Error 17The robot went into an area it did not know, got lost while cleaning and could not get back to the Home Base.

- Roomba Error 26The vacuum motor stalled; iRobot names a clogged filter as a possible cause.

Nothing matches all of those. Try “Any” on one choice, or check the maker: each maker has its own list of numbers, and a number missing here may be on the maker’s own chart for your series.
An error number only matches that exact number, and each result names its maker: the same number on two makers’ robots is two different faults. Where a maker names only the colour of a light, it matches any movement you pick.

Numbers that more than one maker uses, each for its own thing. This is why a number alone cannot be looked up.

What these pages cannot do
- They cannot see your robot. The maker’s app usually shows the same error with your model’s own wording; if it differs from this page, the app is about your exact model.
- They cover the series named on each page. iRobot, Roborock and SharkNinja each publish separate charts for other series, and a number can change meaning between them.
- They carry only what each maker states. Where a maker gives no step, the page says so; where it tells you to contact support, so does the page. Nothing here asks you to open the robot or its battery beyond the maker’s own steps.
Left out, and why
A maker gets pages when its own site documents at least 5 lights or error numbers and we could read them. These did not:
- ECOVACS DEEBOT — The only numbered codes ECOVACS publishes on its US help site are app and Wi-Fi setup codes (10016, 10503 and so on, HTTP 200), not robot faults or light states; its robot help is written by symptom (‘driving wheels are stuck’) with no error number or light named.
