What the light on your home EV charger means: Tesla, zappi, Ohme, Pod Point, Wallbox and more
96 light states on 9 makers’ home chargers, each from the maker’s own help site or manual. Solid yellow means a scheduled charge is waiting on a Pod Point, the charger is locked on a Wallbox, and there is not enough solar export on a Hypervolt. Three red blinks on a Tesla Wall Connector mean it is too hot; four mean it lost the internet. So pick the maker, then the colour, how it moves and, for a blink code, how many flashes come between the pauses.

No light matches all of those. Try “Any” on one choice: makers word the same light differently (blinking on one is flashing on another, breathing on one is pulsing on another, turquoise on one may look blue or green to you).
Flash count: Tesla’s red codes are 1 to 7 blinks and a one-second pause, repeating; Emporia’s orange codes are slow flashes then fast ones. Where a maker names the movement but not the colour, or the colour but not the movement, its light matches any choice for the part it leaves out.
The same colour, different meanings
Colours that at least three makers use, each for its own thing (up to two lights per maker; every light is in the list above). This is why a colour alone cannot be looked up.

What these pages cannot do
- They cannot see your charger. The light says what the charger thinks; the maker’s app shows its real status, and several makers (Easee, Hypervolt, Wallbox) say to check the app first.
- They cannot know if your colours were changed. myenergi lets a zappi owner change its colours, so a changed zappi will not match its default list.
- They give no electrical advice. 22 of these lights are about the power supply, earthing or an electrical fault; on those pages only the maker’s own steps are repeated, including any breaker or RCD reset the maker itself describes and its line about an electrician or installer. Where a maker lists wiring checks for an electrician, the page says so and leaves them on the maker’s page.
- When the maker blames Wi-Fi or the internet, the router is a different device: see router and broadband hub lights.
- The connector on the cable has its own label: see fuel and charging connector labels.
Left out, and why
A maker gets pages when its own help site or manual documents at least 5 charger light states and we could read them. All 9 makers above did, for the model named on each page. These related pages or models were not used:
- Tesla’s own www.tesla.com Wall Connector troubleshooting page — It refused our fetch, in a plain request and in a browser (HTTP 403). The same Gen 3 light and fault codes are in Tesla’s manual on its Energy Library, energylibrary.tesla.com, which is the source used. www.tesla.com Checked 2026-09-29.
- myenergi zappi GLO — myenergi’s zappi GLO status LED page answered (HTTP 200) but names only three patterns, solid, flashing and breathing, with no colour for each state: fewer than 5 documented light states, so the GLO gets no page. support.myenergi.com Checked 2026-09-29.
- myenergi’s Bolt light colours article for zappi 2.1 — It refused a plain fetch (HTTP 403) and in a browser opens as a restricted section with no text. The zappi pages use myenergi’s published user manual instead. support.myenergi.com Checked 2026-09-29.
- Ohme ePod — Ohme’s ePod page answered (HTTP 200) but says the meaning of each colour and light sequence is in the Ohme app’s My Charger section, not on the page, so there were no light states to cite. ohme-ev.com Checked 2026-09-29.
- Pod Point Solo 3 (the model before the Solo 3S) — Pod Point’s Solo 3 home user guide answered (HTTP 200), but our reader could not extract its text, so none of its lights could be checked word for word. Only the Solo 3S guide is used. cdn-www.pod-point.com Checked 2026-09-29.
