Samsung hob error codes
10 codes that Samsung publishes for its hobs, each with what it means, the likely cause, what you can safely check and when to call a service engineer. Tap your code:
Hob: do only the checks the maker gives for that code. A built-in hob is wired in, so where a maker says to cut the power, switch it off at the fuse box (circuit breaker); never lift the hob out of the worktop or open it. The electrical connection is for the installer or a qualified electrician, and anything past the maker’s own checks is for the maker’s service engineer. Codes that need one are marked Engineer.
Read this first
Samsung induction hobs show a letter and a digit — C0, F0, d0 — or a short word such as UP on the zone’s display, and a small u when there is no suitable pan. These are from Samsung Australia’s cooktop troubleshooting page, which Samsung says is for Australian products only and warns that codes vary by where the hob was bought: Samsung UK publishes no hob code list we could find, so on a UK model check your manual too — models differ. Samsung’s own warning on that page: repairs are only for a qualified service technician.
C0 Zone temperature sensor problem
- What it means
- Samsung: a problem with the burner (cooking zone) temperature sensor.
- Likely cause
- A sensor fault under the glass.
- What you can safely check

- Restart the hob with the On/Off key.

C1 Temperature higher than it should be
- What it means
- The hob has sensed a temperature higher than it is designed for.
- Likely cause
- Samsung gives no cause beyond the sensed temperature.
- What you can safely check

- Samsung: a problem with the PBA sensor — the temperature sensor on the hob’s circuit board.
- Likely cause
- A sensor fault on the board.

A2 Cooling fan not running
- What it means
- The fan motor that cools the electronics does not run.
- Likely cause
- Samsung: a problem with the circuit board or wiring, or electrical disturbance on the motor blade.

- What it means
- A key has been pressed for more than 8 seconds.
- Likely cause
- Usually a wet control panel, or something resting on a key.
- What you can safely check

F0 Circuit boards not talking
- What it means
- Communication between the hob’s main and sub circuit boards has failed.

- What it means
- The chip that reads the touch controls is communicating abnormally.
- Likely cause
- An electronics fault.

UP Mains voltage out of range
- What it means
- The voltage reaching the hob is outside its normal range (220–240 V on the Australian models).
- Likely cause
- A problem with the home’s electricity supply.
- What you can safely check

- What it means
- The zone finds no pan it can heat: the cookware does not work on induction, or the zone is on with nothing on it.
- Likely cause
- A pan that is not magnetic, the wrong size, or placed off the zone.
- What you can safely check

5E Sensor touched too long (electric hobs)
- What it means
- On Samsung electric (ceramic) hobs, a touch sensor has been touched for longer than 10 seconds.
- Likely cause
- A hand, cloth or spill resting on the controls.
- What you can safely check

- Do not touch the sensor for a long time; clear anything resting on the controls.

Samsung says most codes are not a mechanical fault. For a code not listed here, restart the hob with the On/Off key; if it stays, cut the power for more than 30 seconds, and if it still stays, contact a Samsung service centre. Your model’s user manual has the list for your hob.
