Samsung oven error codes

12 codes that Samsung publishes for its ovens, each with what it means, the likely cause, what you can safely check and when to call a technician. Tap your code:

Switch off and unplug before checking. Anything electrical, anything to do with gas, and any water leak at the mains: call a technician. Codes that need one are marked Technician.

Read this first

Samsung calls these information codes and says most are not a malfunction and clear with a reset. Every code below is on Samsung UK’s own support page for ovens. Two tips from it: turn the oven off and restart it first, and if a code stays, cut the power for 30 seconds or more and reconnect. Samsung warns that codes depend on the model, so a code missing here may still be in your model’s manual.

C-d0 Button problem

What it means
A button has been pressed and held for a period of time.
Likely cause
Dirt or water on or around the buttons, or something resting on them.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Clean the buttons with a damp cloth and make sure no water is left on or around them.
  • Turn the oven off and try again.
When to call a technician
If you cannot clear the code, call a technician (a Samsung service centre).

S-01 Safety shutoff

What it means
The oven has run at a set temperature for a long time, so it switched itself off. Samsung says this is not a system failure.
Likely cause
Under 105 °C for 16 hours, 105–240 °C for 8 hours, or 245 °C to maximum for 4 hours.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Turn the oven off and remove the food, then use it again as normal.
When to call a technician
No technician needed: this is a safety feature, not a fault.

dC dE Divider check (Dual Cook ovens)

What it means
The divider was removed during cooking in Dual Cook mode, or put in during cooking in Single Cook mode.
Likely cause
The divider in the wrong place for the mode.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Put the divider in for Dual Cook, take it out for single cooking — never remove it during Dual Cook.
  • Turn the oven off and restart it.
  • If it continues, turn off the power for 30 seconds or more, then reconnect.
When to call a technician

C-d1 Door lock malfunction

What it means
The door lock is not working properly.
Likely cause
Not stated by Samsung.

C-20 C-21 C-22 Sensor malfunction

What it means
A temperature sensor is not working properly.
Likely cause
Not stated by Samsung for each code.

C-F0 Control boards not communicating

What it means
There is no communication between the main circuit board (PCB) and the sub board.
Likely cause
An electronics fault.

C-F1 Memory (EEPROM) read/write

What it means
A fault that only occurs while the oven reads or writes its memory (EEPROM).
Likely cause
An electronics fault.

C-F2 Touch panel not communicating

What it means
A communication problem between the touch controller and the main or sub microcontroller keeps happening.
Likely cause
An electronics fault.

Pr E Preheating (normal)

What it means
The oven is preheating. Pr E stays on until the set temperature is reached, then disappears.
Likely cause
Normal operation, not a fault.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Keep the door closed until the code disappears.
When to call a technician
No technician needed: this is normal.
