These are the fault codes GE Appliances lists for the electronic controls of its ranges and wall ovens — the freestanding cookers and built-in ovens it sells in North America. GE says the codes are there to help its technicians find the fault, that a trained service technician should be called when one appears, and that its list covers only the most common codes, not every past and present model. Most entries tell you which part usually needs replacing, which is a job for the technician, not the owner. The one thing GE lets you try is cutting the power at the circuit breaker or fuse for a minute or two. Until the oven is repaired, GE recommends leaving it off at the breaker; you may switch the breaker back on to use the hob (the surface units) and off again afterwards. Codes are not shared between makes: an F3 on a KitchenAid or a Frigidaire says nothing about a GE.

- Power is reaching the oven, but it has not been wired correctly.
- Likely cause
- A wiring mistake at installation (GE calls it a mis-wire).

OFF Too hot for self-clean
- What it means
- Not a fault. OFF appears when you try to set self-clean while the oven is too hot, or try to bake or broil (grill) soon after a self-clean has finished.
- Likely cause
- The oven has not cooled down enough yet.
- What you can safely check
Switch off and unplug before checking.
- Let the oven cool down, then try again. After a self-clean, give it longer to cool before baking or broiling.
- When to call a technician
- No technician needed: GE describes this as the oven waiting to cool, not a fault.
