38 codes that LG publishes for its ovens, each with what it means, the likely cause, what you can safely check and when to call a technician. Tap your code:

Read this first
These are the codes LG USA lists for its ranges — the freestanding and slide-in electric and gas cookers it sells in the United States. LG’s page draws them as pictures of the display, each opening a pop-up panel; we clicked every panel open in a browser and read LG’s wording there. The electric and gas range branches show the same 36 panels. LG’s one owner step is a reset: for most oven codes, press CLEAR/OFF and try again, then switch off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds; for the steam, fan, induction, griddle and sous-vide codes, only the breaker reset. After that, the range needs service. Codes with an upper and a lower oven (F10 and F20) are for LG’s double-oven ranges. HS and Sb are not faults, and on the display they look like H5 and 5b. LG’s built-in ovens sold in the UK are different models: the one manual we read (WSED7613S) names only an unnumbered F error during Pyrolysis cleaning.

HS H5 Hot cooktop (not an error)
- What it means
- LG says HS means the cooktop is hotter than 150°F. It is not an error code, only a warning that the surface is too hot to touch. On the display it can look like H5.
- Likely cause
- Heat left in the cooktop after cooking.
- What you can safely check
Switch off and unplug before checking.
- Let the cooktop cool.
- If the surface is at room temperature and HS still shows, switch off at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds and back on.

PF Power failure
- What it means
- The power to the range was interrupted.
- Likely cause
- A power cut or a tripped breaker.
- What you can safely check

Sb 5b Sabbath mode (not an error)
- What it means
- LG says Sb means the range is in Sabbath mode: the temperature cannot be changed and the timer, light and alarms are off (a light left on stays on). On the display it can look like 5b.
- Likely cause
- Sabbath mode was switched on.
- What you can safely check
Switch off and unplug before checking.
- To turn it off, LG says: press Bake, set the Bake temperature with the +/− keys, press Start, then press and hold Clock for 3 seconds.
- When to call a technician
- No technician needed for the mode itself; if Sb will not clear, LG says to request a repair.

F1 F2 Upper oven temperature sensor
- What it means
- LG calls both an upper oven thermistor error: a problem with the temperature sensor of the (upper) oven.
- Likely cause
- The oven temperature sensor (thermistor).
- What you can safely check
