AEG oven error codes

87 codes that AEG publishes for its ovens, each with what it means, the likely cause, what you can safely check and when to call a technician. Tap your code:

Switch off and unplug before checking. Anything electrical, anything to do with gas, and any water leak at the mains: call a technician. Codes that need one are marked Technician.

Read this first

AEG ovens show F codes for faults (F102, F111), C codes when a pyrolytic clean cannot start, and F6xx codes for Wi-Fi on connected ovens. Every code below is on AEG UK’s own support site. Electrolux and Zanussi ovens come from the same group and often share codes, but the sources here are AEG’s: check your own manual. AEG says most F codes need an engineer, and lists more than 70 of them; a mains reset is the one thing it suggests trying first.

F102 Door lock

What it means
The door is not fully closed, or the door lock may be defective.
Likely cause
A door left slightly open, or a problem with the electronics.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Close the door fully.
  • Isolate the oven for a few minutes and switch it back on — or check the house fuse or the safety switch in the fuse box and switch it back on if you can.
When to call a technician
If F102 shows again, call a technician (AEG customer care). If the fuse or safety switch will not stay on, AEG says to consult a qualified electrician.

F1 Door will not lock for pyrolytic cleaning, or an electronic fault

What it means
On a pyrolytic oven: the door cannot close (lock) because the pyrolytic function is on. On an oven without pyrolytic cleaning: possibly an electronic fault.
Likely cause
Pyrolytic ovens: the top part of the door is loose or not fitted properly — often after the door was cleaned or taken off.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Pyrolytic ovens: check the top part of the door is intact and secured to the door.
  • If the door was recently removed, refit it as the manual shows.
When to call a technician
If that does not fix it — and always on an oven without pyrolytic cleaning — call a technician (an AEG authorised service centre).

F111 F11 F129 Food probe (roasting thermometer)

What it means
The food probe is faulty or not connected correctly. AEG says some models show it as F11 or F129.
Likely cause
A plug not fully in the probe socket, or a damaged probe (wires, bent contacts, wear).
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Remove the food probe and plug it back in, fully into the socket.
  • Check the probe for damaged wires or bent contacts; a damaged probe should be replaced.
  • Switch the oven off at the mains for about 30 seconds, then back on.
When to call a technician
If the code stays with the probe reconnected or replaced, call a technician: the socket, wiring or electronics need checking.

C1 Telescopic rails in during pyrolytic cleaning

What it means
The pyrolytic clean was started with the telescopic rails still in the oven.
Likely cause
Rails, shelves or side supports left inside.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Remove the telescopic rails, the shelves, the side rails and all accessories, then start the pyrolytic clean again.
When to call a technician
If the code stays with everything removed, call a technician (AEG service).

C2 Food probe plugged in during pyrolytic cleaning

What it means
The cooking thermometer (food sensor) is in its socket during the pyrolytic clean.
Likely cause
The food probe left plugged in.

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Unplug the food probe from the socket (top right inside the oven), then start the pyrolytic clean.
When to call a technician
If the code stays with the probe removed, call a technician (AEG service).

C3 Door open during pyrolytic cleaning

What it means
The door is open, or slightly open, when the pyrolytic clean is started.
Likely cause
The door not fully shut.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Close the oven door fully before starting the pyrolytic clean.
When to call a technician
If the code stays with the door shut, call a technician (AEG service).

C4 Steam button on during pyrolytic cleaning

What it means
The Plus Steam (Steam Bake) button is on when the pyrolytic clean is switched on.
Likely cause
The steam button left selected — its small light is lit.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Press the Plus Steam button again so its light goes out, then start the pyrolytic clean.
When to call a technician
If the code stays, call a technician (AEG service).

E0020 Oven light

What it means
The oven’s internal light is not working.
Likely cause
A failed bulb.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Check the oven bulb and replace it if it has failed.
When to call a technician
If a new bulb does not fix it, call a technician (an AEG authorised service centre) and quote E0020.

F215 Software problem (connected ovens)

F215 is also on AEG’s list of F codes that need a service call-out.

What it means
A software problem; it can show on the oven, in the My AEG Kitchen app, or both.
Likely cause
Oven or app software.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • If it shows only in the app: reinstall the latest app and reconnect the oven.
  • Unplug the oven for at least 30 minutes, then reconnect it to the app; a software update, if there is one, installs within 48 hours.
When to call a technician
If that does not work, call a technician (AEG service) and give the code.

F601 F604 Wi-Fi signal problem or first connection failed

What it means
F601: there is a problem with the Wi-Fi signal. F604: the first connection to Wi-Fi failed.
Likely cause
Network or router problems; the oven itself still cooks.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Check your network; for F604 turn the oven off and on and try again.
  • Reset the oven’s Wi-Fi settings and run the app’s set-up again.
  • Move the router closer, check with your internet provider, and make sure a microwave is not disrupting the signal.
When to call a technician
If it still will not connect, call a technician (AEG service): AEG says a faulty subsystem may have been disabled.

F602 F603 Wi-Fi signal not available

What it means
The Wi-Fi signal is not available. The rest of the oven works normally.
Likely cause
The router is off, out of range or not connected.
What you can safely check

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Turn the oven off and on.
  • Restart your router, and check that other devices can connect.
  • Move the router closer to the oven.
When to call a technician
If the codes keep appearing, call a technician (AEG service).

Every code on AEG’s list of oven fault codes that require a service call-out, except F102 and F215, which have their own entries above.

What it means
A fault the oven has detected that AEG says needs a specialist engineer. AEG does not publish what each number means: the code tells the engineer where to look.
Likely cause
Not stated by AEG for each code.

Switch off and unplug before checking.

  • Switch the oven off at the mains and back on after 30 seconds, to see if it clears.
When to call a technician
Technician If it comes back, call a technician (AEG service) and give the exact code.

A code that is not listed here

AEG’s support site says an F code not covered here (for example F113 or F908) needs a specialist engineer. You can switch the oven off at the mains and back on after 30 seconds to see if that clears it. If it does not, book an engineer and give them the code. For a C code or any other code, the troubleshooting section of your manual is the next place to look.
