Hotpoint uses these codes on more than one of its appliances. Read the one for your machine: the cause and what you can check are the maker’s for that appliance, and they can differ even where the fault sounds alike.

Hotpoint appliances left out, and why
- Hotpoint, Whirlpool and Indesit oven: Hotpoint UK’s oven troubleshooting page lists no error codes, and its oven manuals sit behind a search tool (docs.hotpoint.eu) that a plain request could not use. Whirlpool’s US product-help pages do list oven codes, but for North American Whirlpool ranges and wall ovens — different appliances from the Hotpoint, Whirlpool and Indesit ovens sold in the UK — so they are not used here. With no UK maker source stating a code, no code is listed.
- Hotpoint, Whirlpool and Indesit tumble dryer: Hotpoint UK’s tumble-dryer error-code page lists F01 to F18, but its explanations are the washing-machine ones with the word changed: “no drum rotation during wash cycle”, a waste-pipe blockage with water left in the drum, a drum-lock fault “for top loading machines only” and a code “for washer dryers only”. It cannot tell us which of those codes a tumble dryer actually shows, or what they mean on one, so no Hotpoint, Whirlpool or Indesit dryer code is listed.
Switch off and unplug before checking. Anything electrical, anything to do with gas, and any water leak at the mains: call a technician. Two Hotpoint models can use different codes: your model’s manual is the authority.
