Every light below is confirmed by one SEAT handbook: the 2022 Leon, a car built on the same Volkswagen-group platform as the VW Golf, Skoda Octavia, Cupra Leon and Audi A3. The group's handbooks share most of these lamps and much of this wording, but a VW, Skoda or Audi is not proof by itself — check your own handbook. The Leon's table sorts lamps by colour: red means stop driving and check, yellow means have it checked as soon as possible (the handbook's 'Priority 1' and 'Priority 2' warnings). Several lamps appear in both colours: the steering lamp is red for a fault that needs you to stop, yellow for a lesser one; AdBlue is yellow when the level is low and red when it is too low.

Parking brake light

SEAT calls it “Parking brake on”.

Red: the parking brake is applied.

SEAT calls it “Fault in the brake system”.

Power steering warning light (EPS)

SEAT calls it “Fault in the steering system”.

Listed twice: red for a steering fault that needs you to stop, yellow for one to have checked soon.

Seat belt warning light

SEAT calls it “Driver or passenger has not fastened seat belt”.

Red, and it flashes with a warning sound above about 25 km/h (15 mph) if a belt is still unfastened.

Engine coolant temperature warning light

SEAT calls it “Engine or high voltage system coolant”.

Red: a coolant problem; on hybrids the same lamp covers the high-voltage system coolant.

Oil pressure warning light (oil can)

SEAT calls it “Engine oil pressure”.

Red: engine oil pressure is too low.

Battery / charging warning light

SEAT calls it “Anomaly in the alternator”.

Red: the alternator is not charging as it should.

Foot on brake light (press the brake pedal)

SEAT calls it “Press the foot brake”.

Appears in both the red and the green list: press the brake pedal, for example to move the selector out of P.

AdBlue (DEF) warning light

SEAT calls it “AdBlue level too low, or fault in the SCR system”.

Yellow when the AdBlue level is low; red when it is too low or the SCR exhaust system has a fault.

Brake pad wear warning light

SEAT calls it “Front brake pads worn”.

Yellow: the front brake pads are worn.

Stability control light (ESC)

SEAT calls it “Fault in the ESC, or ESC or TCS operating”.

Yellow: flashing while ESC or traction control is working, steady if the system has a fault or has switched itself off.

Stability control off light (ESC OFF)

SEAT calls it “TCS switched off manually, or ESC in Sport mode”.

Yellow: traction control was switched off, or ESC is in its Sport setting.

ABS warning light (anti-lock brakes)

SEAT calls it “Fault in the ABS”.

SEAT calls it “Pre-heating of the diesel engine, or fault in the management of the diesel engine”.

Yellow: the diesel is pre-heating; if it stays on or flashes, a diesel engine-management fault.

EPC (electronic power control) light

SEAT calls it “Risk of freezing”.

The snowflake: outside temperature below about +4 °C; it stays until above +6 °C. Roads can be icy even when it is off.

SEAT calls it “Start-Stop system activated”.

Start-Stop has switched the engine off; a second version of the lamp says Start-Stop is unavailable.
