Every light below is confirmed by one Land Rover handbook: the 2010 Freelander 2 owner's handbook on TOPIx, Jaguar Land Rover's own technical site. The handbook sorts lamps by colour: red for primary warnings that must be investigated immediately, amber for secondary warnings, and blue, green and white for status. Most lamps light for 3 seconds as a bulb check at switch-on (the airbag lamp for 6). Land Rover calls stability control DSC (Dynamic Stability Control). Unusually, this handbook lists the engine malfunction lamp as red, where most makes use amber. It also has a red critical warning lamp and an amber general warning lamp that point to a message in the message centre, and an amber brake lamp for worn pads or an Emergency Brake Assist fault; their drawings are not shown in the text, so they are left off this list. The handbook is an older one (Freelander 2 was built 2006–2014); newer Land Rovers and Jaguars use other names and may differ.

Oil pressure warning light (oil can)

Land Rover calls it “Low oil pressure”.

On or flashing while driving: stop as soon as safety permits and switch off the engine immediately; check and top up the oil. If it stays on after restarting, switch off and seek qualified assistance.

Brake system warning light

Land Rover calls it “Brake systems (red)”.

On while driving: suspect low brake fluid or an Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD) fault. Stop as soon as safety permits and check the fluid; if it stays on, seek qualified assistance before continuing.

Parking brake light

Land Rover calls it “Parking brake”.

Battery / charging warning light

Land Rover calls it “Battery charge”.

Lights at switch-on and goes out when the engine starts. On while driving: a fault with the battery charging system — seek qualified assistance urgently.

Seat belt warning light

Land Rover calls it “Seat belt”.

Check engine light (engine malfunction)

Land Rover calls it “Engine malfunction”.

Flashing or on after start: a fault with the engine. Avoid high speeds and seek qualified assistance urgently.

Airbag warning light

Land Rover calls it “Airbag”.

On while driving: a fault with the airbag system. Seek qualified assistance as soon as possible.

ABS warning light (anti-lock brakes)

Land Rover calls it “Anti-lock braking system (ABS)”.

On while driving: an ABS fault. Drive with care, avoid heavy braking and seek qualified assistance urgently.

Stability control light (ESC)

Land Rover calls it “Dynamic Stability Control (DSC)”.

Flashing: DSC is active. On continuously: a DSC fault — the car can be driven but DSC will not act on wheel spin or slides.

Stability control off light (ESC OFF)

Land Rover calls it “Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) off”.

Low tyre pressure light (TPMS)

Land Rover calls it “Tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS)”.

One or more tyres are significantly under-inflated: stop as soon as possible, check the pressures and inflate.

Glow plug light (diesel pre-heat)

Land Rover calls it “Diesel glow plugs”.

On at switch-on while the glow plugs heat; wait until it goes out before starting.

Hill descent control light

Land Rover calls it “Hill Descent Control (HDC)”.

Steady: HDC is selected and working (below 50 km/h, 30 mph). Flashing: HDC is selected but conditions are not met — for example the speed is too high — or it is fading out.
