Check your manual — models differ. Two Hoover, Candy and Haier ovens can carry different sets of symbols, and the same drawing can mean different things on different brands; only your model’s manual says exactly which elements run and how hot.

Read this first

Hoover and Candy are sister brands of the Candy Hoover Group, owned by Haier, and their ovens share controls. Every symbol below is confirmed by two Hoover UK manuals; no Candy- or Haier-branded manual has been checked yet, so on those ovens confirm in your manual. Hoover draws its defrost as a fan beside a snowflake, and puts a small dash in the middle of some symbols to mark the shelf. Its manuals say to allow about ten minutes extra when cooking several foods at once on Fan cooking.
