Miele oven symbols
10 symbols that Miele itself documents, each in our own drawing, with the Miele name for the mode next to ours. Tap a symbol for what it does, where makes differ and every source.
Check your manual — models differ. Two Miele ovens can carry different sets of symbols, and the same drawing can mean different things on different brands; only your model’s manual says exactly which elements run and how hot.
Read this first
Miele’s names are its own: Fan plus is the fan oven, Intensive bake is the fan with bottom heat, and Conventional heat is top and bottom heat, for which Miele says to set an older recipe 10 °C lower. On the H 7460 B manual checked here, Eco Fan heat, Defrost, Heat crockery, Prove dough and Keeping warm sit in a “Further” menu by name only, with no symbol, so they are not listed as symbols below. Miele also has Auto roast and Moisture plus drawings that this site has no page for yet.
The 10 symbols
Top and bottom heat (conventional)
Miele calls it “Conventional heat”.

Fan oven (hot air, true fan)
Miele calls it “Fan plus”.

Bottom heat
Miele calls it “Bottom heat”.

Fan with bottom heat (pizza setting)
Miele calls it “Intensive bake”.

Full grill
Miele calls it “Full grill”.

Fan grill (turbo grill, hot-air grilling)
Miele calls it “Fan grill”.

Oven light (bulb)
Miele calls it “Lighting”.

Child lock (key or padlock)
Miele calls it “System lock”.

Timer or minute minder (clock)
Miele calls it the clock button (the manual gives it no name).

Alarm (bell)
Miele calls it “Minute minder”.

Not listed for Miele
The Miele sources checked here do not show these symbols from this site, so they are left off this page: Fan with top and bottom heat, Pizza, Centre or half grill, Intensive heat, Slow cook, Eco fan, Defrost, Plate warming, Keep warm, Reheat, Dough proving, Steam or added steam, Fast preheat, Pyrolytic self-cleaning, Steam cleaning, Bread baking. That does not mean no Miele oven has them — only that no Miele manual or support page cited here confirms the drawing. If your oven shows one, see all oven symbols by shape.
