The Bluetooth icon or light on a CPAP machine

Bluetooth links the machine to the maker’s phone app so you can see your own nights. It is not part of the therapy: F&P, for one, says you are still treated when its Bluetooth icon is crossed out.

Therapy settings: This page explains what a CPAP machine’s screen or light is telling you, in the maker’s words. It is not medical advice: ask your equipment provider or clinician about your therapy settings, and do not change your pressure or any prescribed setting because of anything here.

ResMed

  1. ResMed AirSense 11 An icon on the screen

    Bluetooth connected

    The machine is connected to your phone (the myAir app) by Bluetooth.

    No action is needed.

  2. ResMed AirMini A light on the machine

    Bluetooth light: flashing blue, steady blue, off

    Flashing blue: the machine is discoverable and ready to pair. Constantly blue: it is connected to your smartphone. Off: it is not connected to your smartphone. Once therapy starts the light fades.

    What ResMed says to do

    1. If it will not reconnect, turn the machine off at the wall socket and on again after 10 seconds; if it still will not pair, repeat the pairing steps in the guide.

Philips Respironics

  1. Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 An icon on the screen

    Bluetooth symbol, grey or white

    Grey: Bluetooth is available. White: the machine is connected to a Bluetooth client (phone, tablet). Not shown in Airplane Mode. When a Bluetooth pulse oximeter is paired, the Bluetooth symbol and “SpO2” appear on the therapy screen.

    No action is needed.

  1. Fisher & Paykel Healthcare SleepStyle An icon on the screen

    Bluetooth icon; with a line through it

    The icon shows Bluetooth is on and working. With a line through it, Bluetooth is turned off on the machine or there is an error with it: you are still treated, but your data may not reach the SleepStyle app.
