Philips Respironics CPAP machine icons, messages and lights
Philips Respironics makes the DreamStation 2 (Auto CPAP and CPAP): a small touch screen and a Therapy button with a light ring. Most of what it tells you comes as a pop-up message; the manual splits them into alerts that need an action and status messages that do not.
Therapy settings: This page explains what a CPAP machine’s screen or light is telling you, in the maker’s words. It is not medical advice: ask your equipment provider or clinician about your therapy settings, and do not change your pressure or any prescribed setting because of anything here.

Philips Respironics DreamStation 2 A morning summary screen
Last Session Mask fit: “Good fit” or “Adjust fit”
A screen in the summary shown after therapy is turned off. “Good fit” means the leak found allows optimal performance of the device. “Adjust fit” means the leak may affect device performance; the machine still works and delivers therapy.
What Philips Respironics says to do
- If “Adjust fit” shows, adjust the mask to reduce the leak before starting therapy again.

Humidification symbol
Shown on the therapy screen when the adjustable humidifier setting is enabled. Tapping it shows the current setting: Off, Low, Medium or High.
No action is needed. The manual explains how to change the setting; ask your equipment provider which suits you.

Humidifier Error
Humidification control is disabled. There may be a problem with the humidifier; therapy will run without humidification.

- Turn off the device and disconnect it from power.
- Check by eye that the electrical contacts are clear, then reconnect the power cord.
- If the alert continues, contact your provider.

Humidifier Off
The attached battery does not support humidification, so the humidifier is off while you run from the battery pack.

Tube Error
Heated tube error (only when a heated tube is fitted): the heated tube may be overheated or damaged.
What Philips Respironics says to do
- Turn off the device.
- Detach the heated tube, make sure it is not covered or obstructed, then reattach it.
- If the alert continues, contact your provider.

RAMP PLUS (Ramp+) symbol
RAMP PLUS keeps a lower starting pressure for a set time (30 minutes by default) while you fall asleep. During that time the pressure stays at the starting level unless the machine detects an event and sees a need to increase it; afterwards your prescribed pressure resumes. While it runs, the pressure number on the therapy screen is the pressure being delivered at that moment.
No action is needed. The manual explains the setting; its levels are for you and your equipment provider to agree.

Cell modem signal strength
Shows the signal strength of the cellular modem on machines that have one. It is not shown in Airplane Mode.
The manual gives no step for a weak signal.

Airplane mode symbol
Airplane Mode is on. It replaces the cell and Bluetooth symbols while active, and it turns itself off automatically after three days.
No action is needed. The manual explains how to switch it in the device settings screens.

Bluetooth symbol, grey or white
Grey: Bluetooth is available. White: the machine is connected to a Bluetooth client (phone, tablet). Not shown in Airplane Mode. When a Bluetooth pulse oximeter is paired, the Bluetooth symbol and “SpO2” appear on the therapy screen.

SD Error, Remove/Reinsert
The machine cannot read the SD card: the card may have a problem, it may have been removed while being written to, or it may have been inserted incorrectly.

- Remove and reinsert the SD card.

Therapy button ring: blue or white
Blue: therapy is on (the ring goes dark when therapy is on and the screen has gone dark). White: the machine is plugged in and therapy is off.
No action is needed. A ring that blinks continuously comes with a message: see Service Required, Check Power or Low Voltage.
