Battery pack icons and lights on a CPAP machine

A travel CPAP running on its battery pack shows the charge on its screen, and the pack has a light of its own. The DreamStation Go manual explains each one; a battery with a question mark and a battery with an X are the two that worry people.

    The optional battery pack’s charge while it is attached and therapy is running. Four white bars means fully charged; bars disappear as the charge drops. Philips says a fully charged pack typically lasts 8 hours, depending on your settings, mask leak and the surroundings.

    No action: it is information. For how long the pack will last for you, Philips says to speak with your healthcare provider.

    Battery percentage, therapy off

    When the pack is attached but therapy is not running, the screen shows the charge as a percentage among the main menu screens.

    Battery Pack Fault Alert: a fault has been detected in the battery pack.

    The manual gives no step on the alert itself; its troubleshooting advice for a pack that may be damaged is under the rapidly flashing light below.

    Philips says the battery pack may have been damaged.

    What Philips Respironics says to do

    1. If the pack has been very hot or very cold, let it come back to room temperature.
    2. Unplug the power cord from the pack, then plug it back in.
    3. If the light keeps flashing rapidly, replace the battery pack.

    What Philips Respironics says to do

    1. If the pack was completely flat, wait a few minutes for the light to come on.
    2. If the pack has been very hot or very cold, let it come back to room temperature.
    3. If the light still does not come on, replace the battery pack.
