EE Smart Hub 7 Pro lights: what each colour means

EE: the name is printed on a sticker on the back of the hub.

  1. Aqua

    The hub is connected to broadband.

    What EE says to do

    1. Device can’t get online? Move closer to the hub, switch the device off and on, or turn the hub off for two minutes and check again after five.

  2. Flashing orange

    The hub is connecting to broadband. Give it at least three minutes; the light turns aqua when ready.

    What EE says to do

    1. Still flashing? Check the white cable with red ends is firmly in the socket marked WAN or 4 on the hub, and its other end in Port 1 or LAN1 on the Openreach modem.
    2. Then check the status of your broadband service with EE.

  3. Orange

    The hub isn’t connected to the internet.

    What EE says to do

    1. Turn the hub off with the Power button on the back, wait two minutes, and turn it back on.
    2. New to EE or just moved? Check your line’s activation date has passed, and check EE for service issues.

  4. Green

    The hub is starting up. Wait at least three minutes for it to turn aqua.

    What EE says to do

    1. Turn the hub off with the Power button on the back, wait two minutes, and turn it back on.
    2. Wait three minutes for it to restart and connect, then check the light again.
    3. Still wrong? Reset the hub: while it is on, press the Reset button with a pin or straightened paperclip for about 20 seconds until the light turns green, release it, and let the hub start up.

  5. White

    Smart Hybrid Connect is in use: your broadband line has stopped working and the hub is using the mobile network instead (resilience mode).

    EE’s page gives no step for this light.

  6. Flashing red

    Low power mode: EE says there’s a problem somewhere.

    What EE says to do

    1. Turn the hub off with the Power button on the back, wait two minutes, and turn it back on.
    2. Wait three minutes for it to restart and connect, then check the light again.
    3. Check you are using the power supply that came with this hub and it is plugged in securely.
    4. Stand the hub upright with its vents clear, in case it is overheating.
    5. Still wrong? Reset the hub: while it is on, press the Reset button with a pin or straightened paperclip for about 20 seconds until the light turns green, release it, and let the hub start up.

  7. Flashing blue

    The WPS button was pressed; the hub is waiting for you to choose WPS on your device.

    EE’s page gives no step for this light.

  8. No light

    The power is off, or the light has been turned off.

    What EE says to do

    1. Check the power cable is in the back of the hub and the socket is on, then push the Power button.
    2. The light can be turned off in the EE app: check the hub settings there.
