EE Smart Hub (2021) lights: what each colour means

8 light states of the EE Smart Hub (2021), from EE’s own page What the lights on your EE Smart Hub (2021) mean. It has one status light, plus a WPS light.

EE: the name is printed on a sticker on the back of the hub.

1. Aqua light

   Your hub is connected to broadband.

   What EE says to do

   1. If a device can’t get online, move closer to the hub, switch the device off and on, or turn the hub off for two minutes and back on and check the light after five minutes.

2. Green light

   Your hub is starting up.

   What EE says to do

   1. Wait at least three minutes for it to turn solid aqua.
   2. If it stays green, turn it off with the Power button, wait two minutes, turn it on and wait three minutes.
   3. Still green: with the hub on, hold the Reset button with a pin for about 20 seconds until the light turns green again, then let go.

3. Flashing yellow light

   Your hub is connecting to broadband.

   What EE says to do

   1. Give it at least three minutes; the light turns aqua when the hub is ready.

4. Flashing aqua light

   Your hub hasn’t been able to connect to broadband.

   What EE says to do

   1. The cables may not be connected securely: check the broadband cable is in the hub socket marked Broadband, its other end in the filter from the box, and the filter in the phone socket.
   2. With an Openreach socket that has a built-in filter, don’t use the filter from the box.

5. Yellow light

   Your hub isn’t connected to the internet.

   What EE says to do

   1. First set-up or just factory-reset? Connect a device by cable or Wi-Fi, open a new browser window and follow the on-screen help wizard.
   2. Otherwise turn the hub off with the Power button on the back, wait two minutes, turn it back on; check your activation date and EE’s service checker.

6. Red light

   There’s a problem somewhere.

   What EE says to do

   1. Turn the hub off with the Power button, wait two minutes, turn it back on, and check the light again after three minutes.

7. No light

   Either the power is off, or the light has been turned off.

   What EE says to do

   1. Check the power cable is in the back of the hub, the plug is in and switched on, and push the hub’s Power button.

8. WPS light flashing blue

   The hub is waiting for you to press or select WPS on your computer or device. No WPS light means it connected.

   1. Press or select WPS on the device you are connecting.
