Beko fridge-freezer symbols

The 9 symbols that Beko’s own fridge-freezer manuals explain, with Beko’s name for each, what it does on a Beko, the manual’s own words and the document it comes from. The drawing is ours; tap a symbol for its full page.

Beko calls the fridge the “cooler compartment” in its manuals, so its holiday button is labelled “Cooler Compartment Off (Vacation)”. On the American-style ASD2442VPS checked here, a lit LED on a key shows that its function is on, and an exclamation mark is the warning symbol.

Makes differ, check your fridge’s manual: the same drawing can mean different things on different brands, and only your model’s manual says exactly what a button does, what temperature it sets and when it switches itself off.

Super freeze / fast freeze (snowflakes)

Beko calls it: Quick Freezing

The freezer is driven to −27 °C; start it 4–6 hours before the fresh food goes in.

“When you press the quick freezing key, the LED on the key is illuminated and the quick freezing function will be activated. Freezer compartment temperature is set to -27 Celsius. Press the key again to cancel the function. … You can activate Quick Freezing function 4-6 hours before freezing function and perform a faster cooling.”

Super cool / fast cool (fridge)

Beko calls it: Quick cool

On Beko’s American-style models the quick cool button sits under the temperature buttons.

“If you need to cool items down quickly after a big food shop, you can lower the temperature by pressing the temperature buttons, or you can press the fast freeze or quick cool buttons located underneath the temperature buttons.”

Holiday / vacation mode (sun, beach or suitcase)

Beko calls it: Cooler Compartment Off (Vacation)

The fridge stops cooling and its display shows two dashes (“- -”); the freezer carries on. Hold the key 3 seconds again to cancel.

“Press on the key for 3 seconds to activate the vacation function. Vacation mode is activated and the LED on the key is illuminated. … will be displayed on the Cooler Compartment temperature indicator and the cooler compartment does not actively perform cooling. When you activate this function, it is not suitable to store your food in the cooler compartment.”

Temperature alarm (freezer too warm)

Beko calls it: High temperature / fault alert (exclamation mark)

If an “E” appears with a number instead, the number is a fault code meant for Beko’s service.

“This indicator will be active when your refrigerator cannot perform adequate cooling or in case of any sensor error. … Exclamation mark may be displayed for a while when you load warm food to the freezer compartment or keep the door open for a long period of time. This is not a fault, this warning will be removed when the food is cooled down or when any key is pressed.”

Door-open alarm (open door or bell)

Beko calls it: Door open alert

A beep first, then after 4 minutes the light flashes too; closing the door cancels both.

“If the door of the device remains open for a certain period of time (between 60 s and 120 s), the door open alert is sounded. The door open alert is sounded gradually. First, an audible warning starts to sound. After 4 minutes, if the door is still not closed, a visual warning (lighting flash) is activated.”

Humidity control on the vegetable drawer

Beko calls it: Humidity Controlled Crisper (Everfresh)

Lay leafy vegetables flat, heavy and hard ones at the bottom.

“With the humidity controlled crisper feature, the humidity of vegetables and fruits is kept under control and the food is kept fresh for a longer period of time. We recommend that you place leafy vegetables such as lettuce, spinach and similar vegetables that are sensitive to moisture loss in the crisper, not upright on their roots, but as horizontally as possible.”

No frost / auto defrost

Beko calls it: Fully-automatic defrosting

Beko lists this under troubleshooting: the product defrosts itself from time to time, and that is normal.

“Defrosting is active. … This is normal for a fully-automatic defrosting product. The defrosting is carried out periodically.”

Two stars (**): a −12 °C compartment or section

Beko calls it: Two-star freezer compartment

Ice, ice cream and food bought frozen only; do not freeze fresh food there.

“Two-star freezer compartments are used for storing pre-filled foods, making and storing ice and ice cream. … One, two and three-star compartments are not appropriate for freezing fresh food.”

Child lock or button lock (key or padlock)

Beko calls it: Key lock

One press of the key lock button turns it on.

“The key lock is a great feature which once activated, prevents any settings from being accidentally adjusted by yourself or your little ones. Simply press the key lock button once to activate this feature.”

Not in the Beko manuals checked

The Beko documents below do not show these symbols from this site, so they are left off this page: One star (*), Three stars (***), Four stars (one large star and three small), No stars, Chill compartment, Eco mode on a fridge-freezer, Sabbath mode, Showroom / demo mode, Ice maker off, Water filter change light and Temperature zones and the “OK” indicator. That does not mean no Beko fridge has one, only that the manuals read here do not. If yours shows a symbol not listed, find it by its shape.
