Ice maker off (ice cubes, crossed or unlit)
The automatic ice maker is switched off and makes no more ice; the rest of the freezer keeps working.
What the manuals say to do
Switch it off when the water supply will be off, when the ice bin is removed for more than a minute or two, or when you will not use the fridge for days (LG). Empty the bin when you switch it off (LG); Liebherr says to clean the IceMaker so no water or ice remains, and the drawer can then store food.
What it does not mean
It does not switch off the freezer, which keeps running. A newly installed ice maker that is on is not broken if there is no ice yet: LG says it takes about 12 to 24 hours to begin making ice and 72 hours for full production.
Makes differ, check your fridge’s manual: the same drawing can mean different things on different brands, and only your model’s manual says exactly what a button does, what temperature it sets and when it switches itself off.

Where makers differ
Samsung selects Ice Off with the Ice Type button (Cubed → Crushed → Ice Off). LG’s ice maker valve buzzes if it is switched on without a water connection — turn it off until connected. Liebherr needs the freezer at −10 °C or colder to make ice.
