BT Smart Hub 3 lights: what each colour means

  1. Solid blue

    Your hub is working and is connected to the internet.

    What BT says to do

    1. If you can’t get online, it might be your device: switch the device off and on.

  2. Solid green

    Your hub is starting up.

    What BT says to do

    1. Leave the hub to start up.
    2. If the light stays solid green for 5 minutes, first check you are using the power adapter supplied with the hub, then restart the hub.

  3. Flashing orange

    Your hub is connecting to broadband.

    What BT says to do

    1. Give it at least 3 minutes to connect; the light turns solid blue when the hub is ready.
    2. If it doesn’t turn blue, check the broadband cable and the filter (if you use one) are plugged in correctly.

  4. Solid orange

    Your hub is working but isn’t connected to the internet.

    What BT says to do

    1. Restart the hub.
    2. Check your broadband line’s activation date, or connect Hybrid Connect or Connectivity Backup if you have one.
    3. If it still doesn’t work, contact BT.

  5. Solid white

    Your hub is connected to the mobile network through Hybrid Connect: Hybrid Connect is in use and in resilience mode, keeping you connected.

    BT’s page gives no step for this light.

  6. No light

    The power is off or the lights have been turned off.

    What BT says to do

    1. Check the hub is plugged in and switched on.
    2. Make sure the lights haven’t been turned off in the Hub Manager.

  7. Flashing blue after pressing WPS

    The WPS button was pressed: the hub is waiting for you to press the WPS button on your computer or device.

    What BT says to do

    1. Press the WPS button on the device you want to connect.
