Xbox console: Console power button stays dark: it won’t turn on
The console is not turning on. Microsoft says the power supply may be faulty or loosely connected; on Series X|S, One X and One S the power supply is inside the console and often just needs to reset after a power surge.
Applies to: Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X and Xbox One S. What you see: no light, off. Where: the console.
What Microsoft says to do
- Unplug the power cord from the console, wait 10 seconds, plug it back in and press the Xbox button on the console.
- Check the wall socket works with another device.
- Check the cable is pushed firmly into the socket and the console.
- Use the power cable that came with the console, the right one for your region.
If it is still wrong
If it still will not turn on, Microsoft says it needs servicing: sign in to Device service and repair with your Microsoft account (linked from the page) and submit a service order. Microsoft: support.xbox.com
