Look up an IEC 60417 or ISO 7000 symbol by its number
A manual or datasheet that says “symbol IEC 60417-5957” gives you a number, not a picture. Type the digits and jump to the symbol.
How to read these numbers
- IEC 60417 numbers (four digits, for example 5019) are for symbols on equipment: earth terminals, Class II, AC and DC, power buttons, the alarm and applied-part marks on medical devices. IEC 60417-5019 is protective earth; IEC 60417-5172 is double square.
- ISO 7000 numbers (four digits, often with a leading zero, for example 0624) are its ISO counterpart. On medical boxes and parcels they sit behind the packaging symbols: ISO 7000-2607 is use-by date; ISO 7000-0621 is fragile, handle with care.
- The same number can sit behind two pages. ISO 7000-0626 is the umbrella. Medical packaging calls it keep dry; a parcel label calls it keep away from rain. Both pages are listed in its row.
- Some entries carry a suffix. Audio paused is cited as 5576-2, and alarm paused as the “Alarm Paused variant” of 5319. Each is listed under the number its own page cites.

What this page cannot do
- It lists only the 89 numbers that a semiatic page registers for its own symbol, each confirmed by a public source cited on that page. IEC 60417 and ISO 7000 are paid databases with many more entries. If a number is missing here, we have not sourced it. It does not mean the number is unused.
- It does not give the official title or artwork of an entry. The drawings are our own, and the names are our pages’ names. The linked page quotes what its sources say the symbol means.
- A number mentioned only in passing on a page (a related symbol in a source note) is not listed: it has no page of its own to explain it.
