Non-pyrogenic (crossed wavy lines)

“Indicates a medical device that is non-pyrogenic.”

What it means for you
The device is made and tested so that it does not carry pyrogens — fever-causing substances such as bacterial endotoxins — into the body. It matters for anything that touches blood or is infused.
Whether a device is right for you is a question for your pharmacist, nurse or doctor.

- Three wavy vertical lines (rising heat) crossed out by a large X. Inside the fluid-path bracket it means the fluid path is non-pyrogenic.

- Infusion and transfusion sets, syringes, needles, catheters and dialysis lines.

What it does not tell you
It is not the same as sterile: a device can be sterile and still carry endotoxins, and this mark alone does not say the device is sterile.
