Google Nest Wifi router lights: what each colour means

1. Solid white

   Router is online and all is well.

   Google’s page gives no step for this light.

2. Solid white, no light, solid white

   The device is booting up.

   What Google says to do

   1. Wait about a minute; when it is done the light slowly pulses white to show it is ready for setup.

3. Slowly pulsing white

   The device is ready for set up.

   What Google says to do

   1. Use the Google Home app to set up your router.

4. Pulsing yellow

   There is a network error.

   What Google says to do

   1. Check that the Ethernet cable is connected to both your router and your modem and that both are turned on. You might need to unplug each device and plug it in again.

5. Fast blinking yellow

   You’re holding down the reset button and are factory resetting this device.

   What Google says to do

   1. Keep holding: after about 12 seconds the light turns solid yellow, then let go of the button.

6. Solid yellow

   Router is factory resetting.

   What Google says to do

   1. This can take up to 10 minutes; the router then resets itself and pulses white, ready for setup.

7. Solid red

   Something is wrong: a critical failure.

   What Google says to do

   1. Factory reset the router. If the light stays red, contact Google Wifi customer support.

8. No light

   Router has no power or the light was dimmed in the app.

   What Google says to do

   1. Check the power cable is properly connected to the router and a working wall outlet.
   2. If the router is already set up, check the light brightness setting in the app.
   3. Still no light: contact Google Wifi customer support.
