Google Nest Wifi point lights: what each colour means
10 light states of the Google Nest Wifi point, from Google’s own page Wifi device light meanings: Understanding LED indicators. It has a light ring on the bottom, plus two white volume lights on top; once set up, the ring only lights when you interact with the point (it is also a smart speaker).
Solid orange
The microphone is muted and turned off.
What Google says to do
- Move the switch on the back of the point to turn the microphone back on. While it is off, the point cannot hear or answer voice commands.

Fast pulsing yellow
You’re about to factory reset the device.
What Google says to do
- Keep holding the factory reset button to reset it, or let go to stop.

Solid yellow
The device is resetting.
What Google says to do
- Wait: it may take several minutes. When it is ready for setup the light slowly pulses white.

Slowly pulsing yellow
There’s a network error.
What Google says to do
- Check the connections between your modem and your router or primary Wifi point; you might need to unplug each and plug it in again.
- If the network works but this point doesn’t, restart the point in the Google Home app; if that fails, factory reset it and set it up again.

Slowly pulsing white
The device is booting up or is ready for set up.

- Use the Google Home app to complete the setup.

Fast pulsing white
The voice assistant is listening, thinking or responding, or someone in your home has a notification or reminder.
What Google says to do
- Nothing is wrong. A reminder light lasts 10 minutes or until the person it is for asks “Ok Google, what are my reminders?”

Flashing white
Someone in your home is receiving a notification or reminder.

Pulsing blue
You’re receiving a call.

- Tap the top of the point or say “Ok Google, answer the call.”

Solid red
Point has an issue.

- Factory reset the point. If the light stays red, contact Google Wifi customer support.

No light
Nest Wifi point has no power or the light was dimmed in the app. Once set up, a point is normally dark unless you are talking to it.
What Google says to do
- Say “Ok Google” or tap the volume controls: if the bottom lights up, it is working.
- Check the power cable is properly connected to the point and a working wall outlet, and check the light brightness setting in the app.
- Still no light: contact Google Wifi customer support.
