Eco fan (hot air eco, eco convection)
An energy-saving version of the fan setting for one shelf that needs no preheating. Samsung says cooking takes slightly longer with the same result.
What it is for
A single shelf of food that does not need a hot oven to start: the makers say “selected types of food”, and the manual’s cooking table lists which.
Makes differ, check your oven’s manual: the same drawing can mean different things on different brands, and only your model’s manual says exactly which elements run and how hot.

Where makes differ
Samsung notes that its Eco Convection mode is the one used to rate the oven’s energy-efficiency class under EN 60350-1 — which is why most ovens have an eco mode. Bosch also has “Top and bottom eco”, drawn as the two heating lines with “eco”, which works best between 150 and 250 °C.
Often confused with
A ring-shaped element round the fan in the back wall heats, and the fan blows that hot air round the whole cavity. Because the air moves, every shelf gets similar heat, so you can cook on several at once.
