The machine is emptying its water system — the mode Nespresso gives for a long period without use, frost protection or before a repair. You reach it by turning the machine off, removing the tank, opening the lever and holding both buttons for 3 seconds.

What Nespresso says to do

  1. Wait until no more water comes out; close the lever. The machine switches itself off.
  2. Empty and clean the capsule container and the drip tray.
  3. Citiz: the manual warns the machine stays blocked for 10 minutes after emptying.
