Switch dock: Dock light keeps flashing
A problem getting the picture to the TV. A flash is only normal once, when the adapter is plugged in; a light that keeps flashing needs the troubleshooting below.
Applies to: Nintendo Switch, Switch – OLED Model and Switch 2 docks. What you see: colour not named by the maker, flashing or blinking. Where: the dock.
What Nintendo says to do
- Take the console out of the dock and install the latest system update (System Settings > System > System Update).
- Restart it: hold POWER for 3 seconds, then Power Options > Restart (hold 12 seconds to force it off if it does not respond).
- With a LAN-port dock or a Switch 2 dock, update the dock too (System Settings > System > Update Dock).
- Unplug the HDMI cable from the dock, and unplug the AC adapter from the wall and the dock for 30 seconds.
- Check you are using Nintendo’s own AC adapter, undamaged (HAC-002 for Switch; the Switch 2 adapter or a compatible one for Switch 2), and Nintendo’s dock (HAC-007, HEG-007 or BEE-005).
- Plug the adapter into the wall and then the dock, reconnect HDMI to the dock and the TV, turn the console on and dock it.
- If you can, try a second dock: if that works, only the first dock needs repair.
If it is still wrong
If it still flashes on a second dock, or you have none, Nintendo says the console needs repair: set up a service request with Nintendo (send the original dock and AC adapter with a Switch 2 for testing). Nintendo: support.nintendo.com
