De’Longhi Magnifica S: General alarm light on

An alarm is shown on the control panel. The ‘Explanation of lights’ table lists what it can be: the coffee beans have run out or the pre-ground funnel is clogged; the grinding is too fine; too much coffee was used; pre-ground coffee was selected without any in the funnel; the infuser was not put back after cleaning; or the inside of the appliance is very dirty.

What De’Longhi says to do

  1. Fill the beans container, or empty the pre-ground funnel as in section 13.8; if the coffee came slowly or not at all, turn the grinding dial one click towards 7 while the grinder runs.
  2. Select a milder taste or use less pre-ground coffee; put pre-ground coffee in the funnel or deselect ‘pre-ground’; refit the infuser as in section 13.9.
  3. If none of those applies, clean the inside of the appliance thoroughly (section 13). If the alarm is still displayed after cleaning, contact a customer service centre.

If that does not fix it: Contact a De’Longhi customer service centre (the manual’s wording) if the alarm stays on after cleaning, or if a problem is not solved by the steps in the manual.

The same need shows up as a different light on each machine — which is why a light cannot be read without the machine.
