What De’Longhi says to do

  1. Switch on and wait until the machine is ready; empty the drip tray and grounds container and put them back.
  2. Empty the water tank completely and take out the water softener filter if one is fitted. Pour De’Longhi descaler to level A (a 100 ml pack), add a litre of water to level B and refit the tank.
  3. Put a container of at least 2 litres under the cappuccino maker and the coffee spouts. When the coffee lights are steady, hold the rinse/descale button for at least 5 seconds: its light goes steady and descaling begins.
  4. Turn the hot water/steam dial when the manual’s section 14 tells you to (the steam light flashes each time the dial must be turned), then rinse with a full tank of fresh water as it describes.

Descale needed on other machines

The same need shows up as a different light on each machine — which is why a light cannot be read without the machine.
