Sensi thermostat: An X icon, or “Not connected to network”

Our drawing: the X symbol, on a screen thermostat.

The thermostat can’t connect to your home Wi-Fi network.

Applies to: Sensi thermostats. What you see: a symbol and words.

What Sensi says to do

  1. If you changed your Wi-Fi name or password, or put in a new router, reconnect the thermostat to the network.
  2. Reboot the router: unplug it for 5 to 10 minutes, plug it back in and allow 1 to 5 minutes; check a phone on the 2.4 GHz network can load a website.
  3. Reset the thermostat, then reconnect it to Wi-Fi.
  4. Check router settings: firewall not too high, no special port settings or parental controls, and different names for each band on a dual-band router.

The maker puts this down to Wi-Fi or the network. If the problem is the router itself, its own lights are explained on the router and broadband hub lights page.
