Which models this covers
The manual read here is the FT 95 (Bluetooth model) instructions for use from Beurer’s own document server, English section. Its error table prints each message as a picture of the screen, so the codes here (Er 1, Er 3, Er 7, Hi, Lo) are read from those pictures and the meanings from the words beside them. Other Beurer thermometers, such as the FT 90, FT 65 or FT 09, have their own manuals and may use other codes; the FT 95 table has no Er 2, Er 4, Er 5 or Er 6.
Each state, in Beurer’s words
Er 1 Measured during the self-test, before it was ready
“Measurement during self-test, device not yet ready for measurement.”
What Beurer says to do: “Wait until the forehead symbol stops flashing.”
Beurer says the thermometer is ready after a brief self-test and two short beeps; press SCAN only after that.

Er 3 The room is too cold or too warm
“Room temperature below 15 °C or above 40 °C (<59 °F, >104 °F).”
What Beurer says to do: “Room temperature must be between 15 °C and 40 °C (59 °F - 104 °F).”
Er 3 is about the room, not the person: the forehead reading itself was not taken.

Er 7 The readings could not be sent over Bluetooth
“Unable to transfer the data via Bluetooth®.”
What Beurer says to do: “Please observe the information in chapter “Transfer of measurements via Bluetooth®”.”
Er 7 says nothing about the temperature. Beurer’s Bluetooth steps: the beurer HealthManager or beurer BabyCare app must be open, and a protective phone cover can interfere with the transfer.
Every make: Err or Er with a number. Source: Beurer FT 95 non-contact thermometer — instructions for use (2021-06-22, PDF) Checked 2026-10-13.
Hi Above the range it reports
“Forehead temperature mode: The determined temperature is higher than 42.2 °C (108 °F).”
“Object temperature mode: The determined temperature is higher than 80 °C (176 °F).”
What Beurer says to do: “Operate the thermometer only within the specified temperature ranges. In the event of a repeated error message, contact your retailer or Customer Services.”
Which limit applies depends on the mode icon on the screen: forehead or object.

Lo Below the range it reports
“Forehead temperature mode: The determined temperature is lower than 34 °C (93.2 °F).”
“Object temperature mode: The determined temperature is lower than 0 °C (32 °F).”
What Beurer says to do: “Operate the thermometer only within the specified temperature ranges. In the event of a repeated error message, contact your retailer or Customer Services.”
Beurer’s tips for forehead readings: the forehead must be free from perspiration and cosmetics, and hair, sweat or dirt should be cleaned off, then wait 10 minutes.

What Beurer says to do: “Replace the batteries.”
The FT 95 takes two AAA (LR03) batteries; Beurer says not to use rechargeable ones.

Green, yellow or red light Beurer’s fever indicator
“If the measurement is less than 37.5 °C (99.5 °F), the fever indicator lights up green”
“If the measurement is between 37.5 °C and 37.9 °C, the fever indicator lights up yellow. This indicates that the body temperature is in an increased range.”
“If the measurement is over 38 °C (100.4 °F), the fever indicator lights up red”
| Light | Forehead reading | Beurer’s words |
|---|---|---|
| Green | less than 37.5 °C (99.5 °F) | the body temperature is in the normal range |
| Yellow | 37.5 °C to 37.9 °C | in an increased range |
| Red | over 38 °C (100.4 °F) | above the normal range |
The colour is saved with each reading as a fever or no-fever classification. Read the number as well as the colour.

Flashing forehead symbol Not ready yet
“The device is ready to take another measurement when two short beeps sound and the forehead symbol stops flashing.”
Measuring while it still flashes is what gives Er 1.

Flashing Bluetooth symbol Trying to connect to the app
“The Bluetooth® symbol flashes on the display (Fig. 15). The device now attempts to connect to the app for approx. 30 seconds.”
“The Bluetooth® symbol stops flashing as soon as a connection is established.”
If no connection is made within 30 seconds, Beurer says the symbol goes out and the thermometer switches off after 60 seconds. Each forehead reading is saved on the thermometer automatically either way.

House or object symbol Room or object mode, not a body reading

“Measurements taken in room temperature mode are not stored.”
MODE/MEM pressed once switches to object mode and twice to room mode. The thermometer always switches on in forehead mode.

A memory space number A stored forehead reading
“The device automatically stores the values from the last 60 measurements.”
“With the thermometer switched on, press and hold the MODE/MEM button for 3 seconds. The most recent measurement is displayed.”
Only forehead readings are stored, each with its date, time and fever classification.

These pages report what each maker’s manual says and quote it wherever health is involved. They do not diagnose anything, they are not medical advice, and they do not tell you whether a temperature is a fever or what to do about it; only your own thermometer’s manual and your doctor or nurse can do that for the person you are looking after.
