TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub lights: what each colour means

4 light states of the TalkTalk Wi-Fi Hub, from TalkTalk’s own page Why is my TalkTalk router light flashing orange?. It has one light on the front. TalkTalk says a working hub is solid white most of the time, and that an orange light usually clears by itself within 15 minutes.

  1. Solid white

    You’re connected to the internet.

    TalkTalk’s page gives no step for this light.

  2. Blinking orange / amber

    Your router is starting up. It can also blink orange when it is updating or after a temporary outage.

    What TalkTalk says to do

    1. Wait: in most cases it sorts itself out within 15 minutes.
    2. Still orange after 15 minutes? Check TalkTalk’s Service Status page, run a connection test in My Account, check your cables and microfilters, then reset or restart the router and leave it on for 15 minutes.

  3. Blinking orange and white

    Your router is connecting to the internet.

    What TalkTalk says to do

    1. Once set up, the light should be solid white most of the time.

  4. Solid orange

    Your router is verifying your internet connection; it can also turn solid orange while updating or after a temporary outage.

    What TalkTalk says to do

    1. If it isn’t solid white after 15 minutes, work through TalkTalk’s checks: service status, connection test, cables and microfilters, then a reset.
