De’Longhi Magnifica Plus: what the lights mean

Bean-to-cup with a colour touch screen that writes sentences (ECAM32X.6Y and 32X.7Y)

Despite the name, the Magnifica Plus does not share the Magnifica S or Magnifica Evo panel: those two talk through symbol lights, while the Plus writes whole sentences on a colour touch screen (“Can you fit the water tank?”, “Oops! Looks as if the coffee beans have run out.”). De’Longhi’s Instructions for use for the ECAM32X.6Y and 32X.7Y models list every one in section 17, ‘Messages shown on the display’, with its meaning and remedy; the support pages for the ECAM320.60.B, ECAM320.61.G and ECAM320.70.TB all link that same manual. Messages that ask a question wait for an answer on the screen: “Yes” starts the job, “Cancel” puts it off and leaves a reminder symbol on the home screen.

Every De’Longhi Magnifica Plus light we could source, 19 in all, each with De’Longhi’s meaning and steps. This is the Magnifica Plus’s pattern; another De’Longhi machine may use the same light for something else — check the manual for your model.

Fault or blockage

The coffee ran too slowly or not at all because the beans are ground too finely. The message as the manual prints it says “finer”, but the cause it gives is a grind that is already too fine, so follow the grinder tutorial rather than the one word.
