Moon icon on a smartwatch: what does it mean?
A crescent moon silences the watch, but in different ways: Do Not Disturb on an Apple Watch, sleep mode on a Fitbit, Goodnight mode on older Galaxy Watch models.
This shape means different things on different watches — check which maker’s line matches yours.
What each maker says
- Apple Watch — Do Not Disturb. Do Not Disturb is on. Calls and alerts won’t sound or light up the screen, but alarms still go off. A bed in the same place is the Sleep Focus instead.

On earlier Galaxy Watch models the Goodnight mode icon in Quick settings is the crescent moon; newer ones use a bed for Bedtime mode. The mode silences notifications while keeping alarms working. Turn it off in the morning.

Telling it apart
Check which watch you have. A minus sign or a circle with a bar is Do Not Disturb on Samsung, Fitbit and Garmin; a moon with Zz on a Garmin is sleep mode.
