Bose SoundLink Flex lights: what each colour and pattern means

Bose has two different light tables for the SoundLink Flex, one per generation. The 1st Gen (sold from 2021) has two lights, a Bluetooth light and a battery light, with five states between them. The 2nd Gen (sold from 2024) has three, a power light, a Bluetooth light and a shortcut light, with twelve states between them, including two that need Bose’s customer service: white and amber blinking quickly in turn (an error) and amber blinking 3 times, repeated (a failed battery). Blinking white does not mean the same on both: on a 1st Gen it is charging (battery light) or connecting (Bluetooth light); on a 2nd Gen charging is a slow white pulse. Neither Bose article lists a red light.

Find which generation you have first. If your Flex shows a power light and a shortcut light, read the 2nd Gen sections; if it has a battery light beside the Bluetooth light, read the 1st Gen sections. Bose’s articles date the 1st Gen as sold from 2021 and the 2nd Gen as sold from 2024.
