Green dot at the top of a phone: what does it mean?
An app is using the camera. On an iPhone green means the camera (with or without the microphone); on Android it means the camera or the microphone.
This shape means different things on different phones — check which maker’s line matches yours.
What each maker says
- iPhone (Apple) — Camera in use. Either the camera only, or the camera and microphone, are being used by an app.

Turn it off: Swipe down and tap the indicator to see which app or service is using the camera or microphone; tap again to manage its permissions. The camera and microphone access tiles in Quick Settings turn access off for all apps.

Telling it apart
The same green dot does not say the same thing: on Android it can mean the microphone alone, while an iPhone uses orange for the microphone alone.
