AirPods case: Amber
Less than one full charge remains: for the AirPods if they are in the case with the lid open, otherwise for the case itself. On a charging mat, tapping the case of AirPods Pro 1, 2 or 3, AirPods 3, AirPods 4 (ANC) or AirPods 5 with Wireless Charging Case shows amber while the AirPods are still charging.
Applies to: Every AirPods charging case. What you see: orange or amber, pattern not stated by the maker. What it reports on: the earbuds or the case.
What Apple says to do
- Charge the case, with or without the AirPods inside: connect a Lightning or USB-C cable (whichever your case takes) to a USB charger, or put a wireless case on a Qi-certified mat or MagSafe charger with the status light facing up and the lid closed.
- On a mat or MagSafe charger the light shows the current charge for 8 seconds.
