Nespresso Lattissima One: what the lights mean

Original line with a one-serve milk jug (Lattissima One EN 500)

The Lattissima One takes the same small Original capsules as the Citiz, Inissia and Pixie, but adds a milk jug that froths one serving at a time. Its panel has three buttons (Espresso, Lungo and the milk button) plus two small alerts marked DESCALING and CLEAN that light orange. Most of what the panel says comes from the three buttons blinking together, steadily, fast, or in turn, and the manual’s troubleshooting table (p. 28) is the key to telling those apart. Every pattern below is quoted from that manual.

Every Nespresso Lattissima One light we could source, 12 in all, each with Nespresso’s meaning and steps. This is the Lattissima One’s pattern; another Nespresso machine may use the same light for something else — check the manual for your model.

All three buttons blinking after you switch it on

Heating up

Several lights or symbols at once: flashing or blinking

The machine is heating up, which takes about 25 seconds. The buttons blink the same way, for about 15 seconds, when you connect the milk jug for a milk drink.

“Switch the machine on by pressing any of the three buttons: - Blinking lights: heating-up (25 sec) - Steady lights: ready”

— Nespresso, Lattissima One EN 500 (multi-language manual, English section)

  2. Enter descaling mode as the manual shows: the DESCALING alert then blinks orange for the whole process, which takes about 20 minutes.
  3. Rinse as the manual describes: refill the tank with fresh water and press Espresso; the rinse runs until the tank is empty and the machine switches off. Store the pipe, empty the tray and container, and refill the tank to MAX.
