Heated door mirrors
Heats the door-mirror glass to clear mist, frost and thin ice.
What pressing it does
Depends on the car: on Hyundai's Tucson there is no separate button — the outside mirror defrosters work whenever you switch on the rear window demister, and go off with it (after about 20 minutes, or when the engine is switched off). On SEAT's Ateca, mirror heating is one position of the round mirror-adjustment knob on the driver's door, and the mirrors are heated according to the outside temperature.
Check your car's manual: makes and models differ in what a button does, which positions a switch has and whether it works with the engine off, and your owner's manual is the authority for your car.

Where makes differ
Hyundai links mirror heating to the rear-window demister button; SEAT puts it on the mirror knob. Our drawing combines a mirror outline and heat lines; the symbol on your switch may differ.
No regulation defines it
Neither the UN R121 table nor FMVSS 101 Tables 1 and 2 lists a mirror-heating control, so its symbol is the maker's.
Good to know
- Hyundai says not to scrape ice off the mirror glass, which can damage it, and not to force a frozen mirror.
