Which person’s memory the reading is stored in, on monitors that keep separate memories for two users.

What it is for
Pick your number so your readings and averages do not mix with someone else’s. Omron’s BP7450 has a [user ID selection] switch for “2 people”; Beurer’s BM 28 asks you to “select the desired user memory by pressing the memory button M” after the reading.

Where makes differ
On the Omron BP7450 you slide a switch before measuring and each user keeps 100 readings. Beurer’s BM 54 has two memory buttons, M1 and M2. On the BM 28, “If you do not select a user memory, the measurement is stored in the most recently used user memory.”
What it does not mean
The number is not a measuring mode, a cuff size or a reading; it only decides whose memory the reading goes into.
