Red dot on a smartwatch face: what does it mean?
A notification is waiting that you have not read yet. On an Apple Watch any unread notification shows it; on older (Tizen) Galaxy Watch models a red dot marks an urgent one.

On Tizen-based Galaxy Watch models, unread notifications are marked with one dot at the 9 o’clock position, however many there are. Samsung’s design guide says the dot is red for urgent notifications and orange for regular ones.

Telling it apart
On an Apple Watch the red dot is at the top; a red X or a red crossed-out phone in the same place is a lost connection, not a notification. On a Galaxy Watch look at the left edge: orange is an ordinary notification, red an urgent one.
