Glass or delicate programme (wine glass)
A gentle, low-temperature programme for glasses, stemware, delicate china and temperature-sensitive plastics with light, fresh soiling.
What the manuals say to do
Load glasses in the upper basket or the stemware holder so they cannot touch each other, and choose a detergent with glass protection if your glasses cloud. It suits cups and glasses from a party, not greasy plates. On AEG the same care is an option: GlassCare avoids rapid temperature changes and limits the wash to 45 °C in whichever programme you pick.
What it does not mean
It does not make every glass dishwasher-safe: hand-painted or antique glass, lead crystal and some decorated glass can still cloud or lose their decoration, and Miele advises buying glassware labelled dishwasher-safe. It is not strong enough for dried-on food.
Makes differ, check your dishwasher’s manual: the same drawing can mean different things on different brands, and only your model’s manual says exactly what a light means and which programmes an option works with.

Where makers differ
Bosch washes at 40 °C, Miele, Hotpoint and Whirlpool at 45 °C. AEG has no separate glass programme but a GlassCare extra; Miele also has a Beer glasses programme that uses no rinse aid and no drying, for glasses that need a good head of froth.
