De’Longhi Eletta Explore: what the lights mean
Bean-to-cup with a colour touch screen and milk carafes (ECAM45X.5Y and 45X.7Y)
The Eletta Explore has a touch screen, so it writes its warnings out in words rather than using coded lights; this page takes the messages from the manual’s ‘Displayed messages’ table, with De’Longhi’s meaning and remedy for each. The ECAM45X.6Y and 45X.8Y models have a separate manual that we have not compared line by line.
Every De’Longhi Eletta Explore light we could source

| “Machine needs to be descaled. Press OK to start (~50 min)” | Descale needed: The machine needs descaling. |
| “Fill the water tank up to the MAX level” | Water: There is not enough water in the tank, or not enough for the drink you chose. |
| “Insert the water tank” | Water: The tank is not correctly in place. |
| “Empty grounds container” | Container or tray: The grounds container is full. |
| “Fit grounds container and drip tray” | Container or tray: The grounds container and/or drip tray is missing or not correctly in place. |
| “Fit infuser assembly” | Fault or blockage: The infuser (brewing unit) has not been put back after cleaning. |
| “Fill the beans container and press OK to resume delivery” | Container or tray: The coffee beans have run out. |
| “Couldn’t deliver the drink. Adjust the coffee mill…” or “…Reduce the aroma and try again” | Fault or blockage: The beans are ground too finely, so the coffee came out too slowly or not at all. |
| “Replace water filter. Press OK to start” | Water filter: The water softener filter is spent. |
| “Water circuit empty. Press OK to start filling the circuit” | Water: The water circuit is empty. |
| “Cleaning in progress. Back in a moment” | Cleaning due: The appliance has detected impurities in its internal circuits and is cleaning them. |
| “General alarm: Refer to user manual / Coffee Link App” | Fault or blockage: The inside of the appliance is very dirty. |
| “Keep the milk carafe in the fridge” | Cleaning due: A milk drink has been made and the milk carafe is still on the machine. |
